What’s the Difference between the Box Based Delivery Service and the One-Off Delivery Service?

Box Based Delivery Service

The Box Based Service is our weekly or fortnightly home delivery service available for people whose delivery address is on our Delivery Route in Greater Dublin. In the Box Based Service you can order all our offerings – Organic Boxes, Organic Portions and the other Organic Products – for a weekly or fortnightly delivery. We will then deliver your order each week or second week throughout the year – in effect you have a ‘standing order’. This means that you do not have to keep reordering each week – your ‘standing order’ will arrive.

There is NO Delivery Charge for the Box Based Service. A minimum order amount of €15 applies. The Box Based Delivery Service is available in Greater Dublin only.

One-Off Delivery Service

For those who aren't signed up for the Box system but who want to make a one-off order, this is the Service for you.

The full range of Organic Products is available to you for a one-off delivery if you are on the Dublin Delivery Route. Outside Greater Dublin you can still order from a wide range of organic products, though not the fresh produce such as Organic Boxes or Portions.

Delivery is available across Ireland. There is no delivery charge for customers on the delivery route, whereas a delivery charge applies to one-off deliveries outside Greater Dublin.

There is a minimum order amount of €15 for delivery route orders, for orders outside the Greater Dublin area a minimum order value of €25 applies.

How do your Prices Compare to the Supermarkets?

Absolutely Organic prides itself on providing first class produce and service giving great value to our customers.

The price we set for our Boxes remain in place for many months, sometimes years! These prices do not vary despite fluctuations in the market price.

We are committed to buying local Irish grown produce (thereby reducing food miles, reducing food imports and providing a sustainable living for farmers and growers). Supermarkets employ bulk buying policies which drive Irish based farmers out of business and which result in increasing food imports.

Remember, there is no charge for delivery, for our Box based Service, in the Greater Dublin Area. If you order from the supermarkets, you will probably pay a delivery charge of €8 to €10!

If you find any prices that are less than ours we would love to know about them. Also, of course, please do let us know of prices that are higher than ours.

Would a Farmer’s Market be the same?

Absolutely Organic supports the growth of Farmers Markets as another way of giving people access to local produce. Buying from Absolutely Organic gives you a number of advantages over Farmers Markets, such as:

• All our produce is guaranteed Organic – at many of the Farmers Markets you would have to double check to identify if produce is organic or not.
• Our Organic growers are from the Leinster area - giving you only the best of local, organic produce available at that time of year.
• Absolutely Organic has a wide range of produce including groceries, which is why we are ‘Your Organic Market Delivered’
• We Deliver your selection to your Home, saving you the challenge of carrying all that lovely but heavy produce.
• We Deliver every week, freeing you to do all the other tasks on your list rather than having to plan your weekday or weekend around a Market.
• Produce at a Market is out in the warm air all day, maybe multiple days, whereas our produce is kept nice and chilled until delivery.
• When you get a chance to go to a Market, you can supplement your Delivery from Absolutely Organic

How do I Know that it is Really Organic?

The word ‘Organic’ is protected by Law. It is an offence for anyone to sell produce as ‘organic’ if that produce has not been certified as such by an authorized body.
Since Absolutely Organic was founded in 1997, we have chosen to be inspected, certified and licenced by the Irish Organic Farmers Association (IOFGA). Our Licence Number is 3306.
We maintain a full paper trail so that all our produce is verified as Organic.

What size are Portions?

Portions are of a consistent size based on our experience of what our customers want. The size/weight of each Portion is provided in the product information. For example, a Broccoli/Courgettes/Leeks Portion is based on an average weight of 500gm; a Beetroot/Parsnips Portion is based on an average weight of 700gm; a Cabbage/Celery/Cucumber/Lettuce Portion is by the piece.

You may want to distinguish between the recommended daily intake of ‘5 portions of veg & fruit’ and the portions above. The recommended daily intake refers to Servings.  Our Portions provide multiple servings each.

Can I Change My Weekly Box System Standing Order?

Of course you can.

In the Box based Delivery System, what if there is a Vegetable or a Fruit that I don’t like/can’t take?

We can accommodate this requirement. Just let us know by email or phone of the produce which you want to ‘reject’ and we will hold this on our database.

Tell us what your Preferences are and we will try to substitute your Reject(s) with one of your Preferences (subject to availability).

We can do this on a once-off basis or on an on-going basis. (See ‘Personal Alternative Choice’)

Do you Deliver to My Area?

Absolutely Organic delivers directly to the Greater Dublin Area. We also have Local Agents/Franchisees who deliver to some areas outside Dublin. See Delivery Routes for details. For other areas across Ireland, we deliver via courier/mail. See One-Off Ordering for details.

What if There is No One in at Time of Delivery?

In most cases, there is someone at the delivery address at the time of delivery. Just email or call us and we can note your special delivery instructions for the event where there is no one present. (See also Delivery.)
